来往车辆、行人都需要根据交通信号灯的指示行进，这种来来往往、有秩序的画面有时能让人感觉到很幸福。交通信号灯可以说 “Traffic Light” 或是 “Traffic Signal”。

greenlight 除了表示“绿灯”，还有其他延伸的意思。想想一路绿灯的情况，那是不是感觉非常顺畅、顺利呢，greenlight 还可以表示许可、批准。

闯红灯用英语该怎么说？这个要分情况来讲。
① 看左右没车，就闯红灯，此时用 jump the red light
这里的 jump 表示忽略的意思，忽略了红灯。
They jump the red light and then hit you.
就像他们闯过红灯，把你撞了。
② 直接冲过去的闯红灯，此时用 run the red light
Some people even ignore traffic rules and risk their lives to run the red light.
有些人甚至无视交通规则，冒着生命危险闯红灯。

红灯是 “Red Light”、绿灯是 “Green Light”，那么黄灯难道就是 “Yellow Light” 吗？
其实 Yellow Light 这种说法也是可以的，只不过还有一个更加地道的表达....
那就是 Amber，amber /ˈæmbə(r)/ 是“琥珀（色）”的意思，琥珀色和黄色很像。这个表达更加地道一点。
But when the light hits them they change to amber.
但是如果有光照在上面就会变成琥珀色。

① 可以直译，wait for the red light to change（to green）
注意：介词 for 不能忘记啦！而且 red light 后面要加上 to change ，不然你是在等红灯出现么？
